EMERGING FROM THE ASHES
As the late Bob Marley stated, "Every man has the right to decide his onw destiny." With this right of choice comes a time in a man's life when he must face the reality of the consequences of his actions. It is at this moment of eva lutation and realization that the weight of those actions are laid in the balance of worthiness. As the legacy of life is given application to present day situation what will be the voice of your legend; the substance of your living; or your contribution to mankind? A sadden state is that some never awaken to the reality of the connectedness of us all. Our ancestors of pass, contemporaries of present, and offspring of tomorrow are inseparably linked together in the contention of survival. Due to the connectedness of our contentions we all have something to contribute. History bears witness that with each plight of a people a voice emerges with a vision of liberation. Dr. Kevin T. Jackson in our present times is emerging as a phoenix from the ashes to be such a voice.
Dr. Jackson states, "I am a product of the many faces of Hip Hop, it flows through my veins." His story is both intriguing and inspirational, reflecting the reality that many of our young men are faced with today. But there is a twist. At the age of 19, Dr. Jackson was confronted with the reality of his life's legacy as he awaited his fate before a jury of his peers.
It all began 18 years ago in 1991. After graduating from William M. Raines High School in Jacksonville, Florida at the age of 17, a young Kevin a.k.a. Kay Jay, relocated to North Carolina to join his older brother who was enjoying a successful career in the Night Club Entertainment Business. Being drawn into the joys of the parties and fast paced night life, two years later, Kay Jay was arrested, convicted, and sentenced to serve the next 27 years of his life in Federal Prison for Conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance. It was at this moment that Kay Jay's journey of self discovery began.
Being designated to the Maximum Federal Penitentiary in Atlanta, GA, he had a lot of time to reflect on his past, present, and the distance future that he hoped to survive to. His first realization was that lack of experience and limited education resulted in detrimental decision making. It was this same lack that gave others the advantage over him. "Your ignorance is a weapon in the hands of your adversary, voluntarily sur rending your rightful freedoms and liberties," says Jackson. Discovering the empowering and liberating affects of education he soon began taking advantage of the College programs offered through the Institution. He achieved a Diploma Degree in Small Business Management with an emphasis in Marketing Management and a second Diploma in Business and Office Technology. As he continued to empower himself by walking through the doors of educational opportunities he was accepted into College and later Graduate School. He received his ABS; BBS; MTS; and D.min Degrees. He also received a PhD in International Relations.
"Ignorance is no longer an obstacle to my advancement," says Jackson. After 16 years of bidding (term for doing federal time), due to changes in Federal drug laws, Dr. Jackson is anticipating a long overdue early release. Teaming up with colleagues, alumni, and friends, Dr. Jackson has formed, THE DR. KEVIN T. JACKSON FOUNDATION, which advocates social, economical, and educational empowerment through networks and mentorship. Dr. Jackson says, "The future of society is embodied in the youth of today. As members of the community of mankind, it is our obligation to empower them with the knowledge to succeed. Emergence from any and every obstacle or hinderance is inevitable as you make the choice to emancipate your mental capacity. We are the predecessors that must advantage our successors through social, economical, and educational empowerment. The sum total of the whole is greater than the subtotal of an individual. We emerge from the ashes of ignorance together."
The phoenix is a bird of legend said to consume itself by fire after centuries and rise renewed from its ashes. Dr. Jackson has emerged from the ashes of his ignorance to become an empowering educator. He now empowers others to rise from those very same ashes as well. What Is 424????
424 is a coalition of people that have 1 main common denominater and that is "Being a real and standup individual" when faced with ANY Obstacle this life presents to him/her.
Loyalty and Honor makes up that person, so any form of dishonor or disloyalty is not acceptable. Case in point, the Snitching Epidimic that has plagued this country/world. We stand 100% against that. You could say that 424 is a Secret Society except that we are not being secretive with how we feel about this Snitching Epidemic. We are promoting and spreading our belief and united front against that problem in numerous forms of different businesses.
424 means DEATH BEFORE DISHONOR which is an old but very true statement, and way of life that we embrace fully. The movement/revolution is spreading quite rapidly and will increase dramtically in the next upcoming months. Through our numerous businesses, jobs will be provided which will be of much needed help to the economy.
We will be starting a magazine and website under the 424 brand and an Independant Record Label as well, which will be home of artists of all genres of music that represent this way of life through everyday living and their music. We are establishing a nonprofit organization that will be for inmates coming home from prison (inmates of 424 caliber, of course) to help with job placement, finances, and other means that will help with their return to society. We look to be of financial help to those individuals, and they will not owe back anything except to maintain their realness in this life and spread that realness to others. That should be fairly easy.
These are just a few of the many avenues that we are traveling with this 424 movement. We feel that this is long overdue but very well needed in this lifetime. We are currently building the website and are accepting stories, testimonials and statements from any and all across the world that share in this way of life. WE ARE UNITED! We salute and pay huge homage to the different men and women of this Cloth and way of life. It takes a special and unique individual to be of this caliber and we appreiciate those many men and women tremendously. So in a nutshell, that's what 424 is all about and you will DEFINITELY be hearing much noise (lol) from 424 very soon.

Background: Wrote my 1st rap @ 10. Listen to East Coast and West Coast artists. Loved Hardcore Hip Hop. Raised in U-town and started hustlin at 11, Runnin with THE NATION since day 1, Taught to step forward and NEVER look back. By 12 I was spinnin records on gemini's. Run-ins with the cops started at 15. Heavy on the green, love chiefin. Fascinated with Firearms. Bought my 1st hoopty at 13, a 63 Impala. Got my 1st place to stay at 17 which I made a str8 Trap House. Totally spun out of control. Dem laws been at a G every since. Then it gets HAZY!
Accomplishments: One beautiful baby boy. 2 yrs of college. Owned a Successful Restaurant (mexican). I still owned and operate a Production Company called Triple Crown. Somehow I am still alive which is a tru Blessing from our creator. Also I've raised money in South Beach Miami for the Tsunami Relief Team @ Club Maccarena on 13th and Washington (Big Up Carlos) along with a Hurricane Katrina Fund Raiser in Manhatten NY @ Crash Mansion (all kinds of chaos brokeout). I Love to give back to the world and help those in distress.
Currently: Incarcerated in the Feds serving a 70 month sentence for that work! Staying focused and in touch with my innerself. Daily Conditioning of my mind, body and soul. Training Hard, Eating right and continuing to strive thru this struggle. Continuing my education because illiteracy is our #1 enemy (Big Up Chief). Staying LOYAL to policies and laws set forth in order to GROW into a reckoning force and DEVELOP as time evolves. Representing and Standing strongly for everything I believe in. Fighting a state case ProSe from behind these fences so I can get all of my good time benefits and resurface soon. Ozone Magazine: Prison Diary feature
Prelude: In September 2005, the United States Grand Jury indicted Christopher "Big Nutt" Donaldson on a 7 count indictment (only 3 charged to him) which included Conspiracy; Cocaine Distribution and Crack Distribution. The Federal Government without any actual evidence or proven drug history, in a sense, forced Nutt to take a plea agreement instead of going to trial and getting 40 years in federal prison. The Grand Jury indictment was handed down based off of hearsay from snitches and cooperating agreements by his co-defendants. The offered to drop the other charges and plea out to a crack distribution charge. What sensible choice did he have? The former concert promoter and current Founder and CEO of the highly anticipated 424 International Inc. movement was convicted and sent to federal prison off of HEARSAY and NO EVIDENCE! This is what the game has come to.
I am C. Donaldson but everyone calls me BIG NUTT, (childhood friends call me P-Nutt, LOL). I am Founder and CEO of 424 International Inc. headquartered in Atlanta, GA. I've been in the Feds almost 4 years in Jesup, GA. I was charged and convicted on Distribution of Crack Cocaine. I originally was sentenced to 87 months (7 years 3 months) but within the first year of being down, I found a mistake in my case made at sentencing. If I never would have found it, the Courts would not have straightened it on its own, believe that. The Judge sentenced me to the wrong base offense level. The difference between the wrong level and the correct level was 2 years. I hired an attorney to handle this matter.
The Courts determined I was right. It cost me 3 Gs to get 9 months off my sentence instead of the 2 years. Due to the fact that I wasn't a cooperating source, I received "no extra love" or time off. Nevertheless, my sentence was reduce from 87 months to 78 months. That's a big difference when you are behind that barb wire. I wanna encourage all of my men and women in the system to never give up in the fight with your case. Study and take a detailed look at your case. 9 times out of 10 there is a mistake (loophole) that was made that can provide possible relief for you. Trust me on that!
Anyway, prior to prison I was a concert promoter. I've held shows and concerts and other type of events in different cities and states to where I would pay anywhere from $5,000 to $35,000 for acts like Lil Wayne, TI, Young Jeezy, T Pain, Young Buck, JT Money, Trina, Trick Daddy, Field Mob, Bun B, 8 Ball and MJG, Gucci Mane, Youngbloodz, Purple Ribbon All Stars, Jackie O, Ying Yang Twins, Mike Jones, Webbie, D4L, BG, Uncle Luke, Juvenile, Dem Franchize Boyz, Baby (Birdman) and many more... along with a host of car shows, comedy shows and more events.
On top of promoting concerts and shows for adults, I would hold bi-weekly High School Bashes and would have hundreds of kids come out and enjoy themselves in a saf e environment. I have much love and respect for the Soulja Boys, Lil Wils, GS Boyz and other young stars gettin to the money. They are the next generation and I support them fully.
At the time I was busy being a promoter, I was also building my team of artists to release to the industry with the first artist to be released name Poysin (pronounced Poison) out of Tallahassee, Florida. I ran the promoting venture hand in hand with the independent label. Young Jeezy said it best when he said, "As soon as you get your money (business) right, they hit you with Conspiracy"... THAT’S SO TRUE! After being indicted and convicted, I could no longer pursue my vision of releasing my artists at that time.
Currently I have founded and spear-headed 424 International Inc. 424 means DEATH BEFORE DISHONOR, and the message and purpose behind this movement is long overdue. We are out to "even the scales" as I like to call it and eventually overtake them. I was cut from a cloth of being a Real and Stand Up Individual when faced with any and every situation that presented itself to me. This would include when I became indicted by the Feds and faced several years in prison. I stood tall like any real person suppose to and accepted my responsibility without snitching and bringing down someone else. Throughout my bid I have become aware of just how out-numbered "Stand Up" individuals are. The snitching is out of hand and I am fearful that the next generation will believe and feel that it’s okay. Well it’s not and that’s what 424 is all about. We are 1 way and 1 way only - "Real/Standup"! We salute and pay homage to all the Real/Trill men and women out there.
It’s my vision to take back and spread this movement one city, one hood, one block, and one state at a time. Through the many Divisions and Ventures of 424 International Inc., "WE WILL EVEN THE SCALES"...424 is not designed as a new trend or fad. It’s a Way of Life, A Belief, A MOVEMENT. We eat, sleep, breathe, and live this shit to the fullest. Keep your eyes and ears open... WE COMIN’!!!!
